David William Burrows

December 3, 1944 — December 9, 2025

David William Burrows, age 81, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, at Markham Stouffville Hospital.

Born in Hastings, England on December 3, 1944, he was the beloved husband of Sharon Burrows and devoted father to his sons, Randall and James Burrows. David was a natural leader and manager, respected for his understanding of people and his deep care for family, friends, and colleagues.

Over more than 20 years working abroad in South Korea, Romania, and China as a Commissioning Superintendent for AECL, he ensured his family experienced the richness of different cultures, languages, and ways of thinking. Courageously, he often took the road less traveled, believing life was about embracing risks, creating lifelong memories, and instilling the most important values of life: love, family, and integrity.

A skilled problem solver with a strong sense of social responsibility, David volunteered in many capacities, including as a hockey manager, OPG union leader, and board manager for cottage and condo communities. Always curious and passionate about new technologies, he was often one of the first to try the latest gadgets, earning him the playful nicknames “00 Dave” and “CSIS op leader.”

He will be dearly missed by his daughters-in-law, Jennifer and Eve, and his grandchildren, Charlie, Van, and Porter. David also leaves behind extended family in Uxbridge and the UK, as well as friends from the cottage and his condo community in Swan Lake Village.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date to honor and remember David’s remarkable life.
