Obituary

Willi Moh, 85, passed away peacefully with family at his side, on May 4th, 2026.

Willi was born in Germany, November 17, 1940 to his parents Paul and Emma Moh.

Willi came to Canada in 1965 and made a life for himself as a tradesman, specializing as a brick layer, and eventually a foreman. Willi made his mark on the city of Toronto being part of some of the historic buildings we have today, including the CN tower, BMO, and many more. He met and married his first wife Ingrid. First living in Scarborough, then Pickering, and settling finally in Ajax. During this time they raised their three children, Claudia, Stephanie, and Oliver.

He loved to be busy. A characteristic he has passed on to his children, the pitter patter gene or sometimes just referred to as the “Moh” gene. While working as a brick layer and foreman, and being a husband and father, he found time to build three beautiful homes, first in Pickering, and then two in Ajax. Somehow managing to squeeze a cottage in there as well. All brick, and each one had the custom Willi Moh brick bbq. At his third and final house, he grew his family and married Lilia Baird, welcoming Andrew and Adrian into the family.

He always looked forward to watching the Bundesliga, Champions League, and of course Germany in the World Cup. It became a tradition to watch Germany play their games in Willi’s basement, with his son Oliver and his nephew Mich. In his final days in the hospital he was still watching soccer and very much enjoyed Bayern Munich beating Real Madrid in the Champions League.

There was a piece of him that was a real academic. He loved reading, and was well versed in world history and world politics. He could talk, or argue, for hours about world events. A short visit at Willi’s house sitting on his patio would undoubtedly turn into long conversations about current events. Eventually, he was right, or you were wrong, and if you were younger than him, he would eventually say, “oh what do you know, you’re only a young whipper schnipper”.

Willi had two seasons, outdoors - where he would cut his lawn, pitter patter around the property and of course, tend to his vegetable garden. When he wasn’t outdoors, it was woodstove season. He loved to sit in his basement, tend to his fire, and watch the news, YouTube, and naturally, whatever football match he could find. Fridays brought these two seasons together because regardless of the time of year, Willi cherished the bbq’s he had with his dear friends, Earl and Mike.

He is survived by his son, and daughter in law, Oliver and Kassandra Moh; granddaughters, Scarlett and Isabelle Moh; daughter, Claudia Savor; sister, Elly Korm and Evi Moh; niece and nephew Carol and Micheal Korm; step-sons Andrew and Adrian Baird.

A memorial service and celebration of life will not be held, as per Willi’s wishes. He would like a party to be held instead. Please reach out to the family directly for details.
