Stephen John Smith

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Stephen John Smith on December 4, 2025, at the age of 70 surrounded by his family.

Beloved husband and best friend of Kim. Loving Father of Melinda, Jake (Shannon), Sean, and Ashley (Shawn). Dear son of the late Alfie and survived by his mother, Margaret. Loving brother to Ed (Bonnie). Cherished Papa to Ben, Daniel, Isabelle, William, and Dylan. He will be sorely missed by all his nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Stephen will be remembered for his love of hockey, baseball, riding his motorcycle, and being in the boat on the water.

A retired Bombardier / DH employee and former CAW Local 112 Bargaining Committee Member, he will be fondly remembered for advocating for workers' rights.

He dreamed of retiring in a house on the lake, and he was fortunate to have lived that dream for 10 years, surrounded by his family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at UNIFOR Local 222 Hall. 1 - 1425 Phillip Murray Avenue, Oshawa, ON from 2 pm -6 pm.
