ROSEMARIE EHRAT

OCT 12, 1937 – JANUARY 11, 2026

Rosemarie was born in Neuhausen, Switzerland, on October 12, 1937. She married her life partner, Rolf, in 1960, and together they immigrated to Canada, where they established their future together.

They settled first in Toronto, later moving with their two children in 1972 to a property near Kettleby, Ontario. They remained in that home for 50 years before moving to a retirement home in Bronte, Ontario.

Rosemarie worked initially in banking, then worked as a cashier while her children were young, eventually retiring as a full-time bookkeeper at Miracle Food Mart. She was an avid reader with a great interest in politics, a skilled knitter, and a talented baker. Her jovial manner brought much fun to family gatherings, as did her yodeling. She reconnected with her faith and found a deep connection with the York Pines United Church family, later transferring to Walton United Church in Bronte.

Rosemarie was predeceased by her husband, Rolf, after 64 years of marriage. She leaves behind her children, Andrew (Deb) and Caroline (Paul), and four grandsons, Stephen, Ethan, Noah, and Matthew. She was also predeceased by her parents, Ernst and Erika Burri, and her brother, Ernst Burri. She is survived by her sisters, Luise and Erika (Joachim), and their respective families in Switzerland.

Rosemarie is remembered for her sense of humour, her kindness and generosity, and her devotion to her family. A memorial service will be held at York Pines United Church at 1:30 on April 26. In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome a donation to your local food bank.
