Paul Anthony Garratt passed away suddenly on April 24 at St. Mike's Hospital in Toronto of heart disease, four days after his 58th birthday. He was the dear son of Sharon Metcalfe-Garratt and Ian Wm. Garratt (deceased). He is survived by his much loved son Raziel Garratt and his dearest sister Gabrielle as well as,nephews Raymond,Christian and Donovan. He was the grandson of Lawrence and Mildred Metcalfe (McAdam) and Thomas and Eunice Garratt (White) and many extended family members.
Born in Toronto, Paul was educated at Albert Campbell Collegiate in Scarborough as well as Sheridan College in Oakville. He was an avid skiier and was on the racing team at Blue Mountain where he participated in many events. He had a great sense of adventure and when he was sixteen he travelled to Calgary with two school friends to ski at Banff.
At home he was a very responsible son and would look after the house, the dog and his young sister starting dinner each night while his mother worked. He was responsible for taking his younger sister to and from school as well as music lessons. He attended Camp Wabikon in Temagami for several years where he learned how to sail.
In his teens Paul developed a love for music and had a huge collection of records and CDs which he used to begin a DJ side interest.
When he was eighteen his sense of adventure found him travelling solo to Greece where he had a wonderful summer fuelled by new experiences and friendships. Back home he worked on numerous TV programs and film as a background actor.
In between, he travelled to Europe where he worked as a DJ in London, Paris and Milan. As his health deteriorated in the past several years, he sought comfort at Church of the Redeemer, Bloor Street and we are ever thankful for their caring assistance and guidance
in all aspects of his life, especially to Deacon Krysta Fry. Cremation will be followed by a private memorial at a later date. Condolences may be made to raymond.garratt@hotmail.com.
