Loraine Dawson

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mom, wife, sister, aunt, and dear friend, Loraine, peacefully in hospital, surrounded by the love of her family, on Friday, July 10, 2026, after a brief but hard fought battle with metastatic lung cancer. Loraine is survived by her beloved husband, Randy, and children, David (Sarah) and Danielle.

Loraine approached the world with a quick wit, a highly organized mind, and a strong conviction. She had a fulfilling and lengthy career as a teacher where she continued relationships with the students she impacted until the end of her life. In the years since her retirement, Loraine took great pleasure in organizing family and groups of friends for meals together, never missing the opportunity to catch-up around food. Many will remember her laugh and her warmth (and her spectacularly manicured nails and perfect hair!)

Loraine took care of everyone around her, and she will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, neighbours, and the many neighbourhood dogs she would adoringly give love and affection. In particular, and most meaningfully, her greatest accomplishment was a happy marriage of over 40 years to the love of her life, a bond that remained strong, loving, and steadfast to the end.

The family requests the presence of those who loved Loraine to attend her Celebration of Life which will be held at the Latcham Centre, 121 Queen St in Port Perry, on Sunday, July 26, at 1 to 3pm.
