John David Anderson
July 11, 1944 – February 8, 2026
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, John David Anderson lived a life full of energy, connection, and celebration.
Known affectionately by many names — “Mr. A,” “Diamond Dave,” and most famously “Disco Dave” — he brought warmth, humour, rhythm, and undeniable charm wherever he went.
Music ran in Dave’s blood. His father, John Wilfrid Anderson (Wilf), was a drummer, and his mother, Mary Sybella Wilkie — known as “Mae” to her family and “Linda” as her stage name — was a singer. It was no surprise that Dave developed a lifelong love of music and dance. A fabulous partner in true American Bandstand style, he never missed a chance to step onto the dance floor.
A lifelong love of sports, Dave played hockey and basketball throughout his school years and later enjoyed both golf and curling as an adult. He was a devoted fan of the Toronto Argonauts and the Toronto Maple Leafs, and rarely missed watching the Blue Jays — enthusiastically cheering, “Go Blue Jays Go!”
Dave graduated from Humberside Collegiate and began his career at CIBC as a bank teller. With his natural warmth and easy interpersonal style, he later moved into the Business Loans Department, where his people skills served him well.
He was a proud and devoted family man who loved attending and organizing celebrations — from milestone birthdays and graduations to Christmas gatherings and family weekends in Thornbury. Any excuse to travel — especially to Vancouver to spend time with his family — brought him great joy.
Dave was predeceased by his brother, Wilfrid Paul Anderson (2015).
He is lovingly remembered by his children, John Jeffery Anderson and Jennifer Ashley Anderson; his grandchildren, Tyler, Dylan, Emma, and Fletcher; his siblings, Phillip Roy Anderson and Judith Lillian Margaret Anderson; and by Sherrie and Eileen, the mothers of his children.
Dave faced the challenges of living with Multiple Sclerosis for many years with courage and resilience. He passed peacefully on February 8, 2026.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his spirit, his sparkle, his love of music, and the joy he brought to so many.
