Joan Evelyn Saunders

Joan Evelyn Saunders (née Thompson), beloved wife of the late John (Jack) Saunders, passed peacefully in her daughter’s arms on December 12, 2025.

Joan was a devoted mother to her daughters, Michelle and Tracy; loving mother-in-law to Graham (and son Oliver), and Dave; and adoring grandmother to Evelyn (Evie) and Hannah.

Joan is lovingly remembered by her cherished sister Pat, brother-in-law John, niece Pam and her husband Steve, as well as friends and family in the GTA and Ottawa. Though an ocean away, she always felt deeply connected to her family, friends, and roots in England.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to her lifelong friend Jackie, and remembers with love dear Iris. Special thanks to Pastor Rick Wukasch and his wife Doris for their spiritual guidance and for ensuring Joan’s faith remained strong. The prayers she received through her connections at Portico, The Meeting House, and most recently Trinity Church Streetsville were deeply meaningful and comforting to her.

Joan’s kindness, strength, and devotion to family will continue to guide and inspire us. Her gift-giving skills, treasured family traditions, impeccable fashion sense, and legendary rhubarb pie, trifle (or any baking, for that matter) will forever be remembered.

Most importantly, we thank God for Joan’s journey of faith and the light she brought into our lives. Cancer chose to mess with the wrong lady. Joan, you are the miracle. We will never forget you. We will always include you, even though you are no longer here on earth. We will look for signs of you at 11:11, 12:12, and every second in between.
