Obituary

Glenn Gary Lachowiez passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026. He was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, on December 30, 1973, his mother’s birthday, and was the first child of Ron and Joanne (McCharles) Lachowiez.

Besides his parents, Glenn leaves behind his devoted wife, Laura (Berrie), and their sons, Jase, Ben, and Nate, of Oakville, Ontario. He will also be missed by his brother Rob (Amanda) and his sister Katie (Jason) O’Hearn, both of Halifax.

Glenn graduated from Riverview Rural High School in 1992 and went on to attend Saint Mary’s University, where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree. After university, he worked in Calgary for a few years before eventually moving to Toronto, where he met Laura. They later settled in Oakville and raised their family there. Glenn went on to earn his Certified Professional Accountant designation and built a successful career in finance.

Glenn’s greatest source of pride was his family. Growing up, he was rarely without a tennis racket, hockey stick, bat, or ball, and later found even greater joy watching his sons play and cheering them on at the rink, in the gym, or on the field. He loved sharing their successes with his parents and siblings. When he wasn’t cheering them on or watching them play, Glenn enjoyed time at home with Laura and the boys, relaxing on the deck, barbecuing, and playing with Rocky, the family dog. Summer vacations were often spent visiting Grand Bend and Cape Breton, where he loved bringing his family back year after year to enjoy the Bras d’Or Lakes, just as he had as a child.

Uncle Glenn held a special place in the hearts of his nieces and nephews Taylor, Bronwyn, Frank, Eddie, Hollie, and Tucker. They will remember him for his encouragement and genuine interest in what mattered most to them.

Missing Glenn as well are his aunts Lynn (Keith) Maher, Bonnie Mann, and Betty Ann (Pat) Ricks; and cousins Stephanie, Jody, Shaun, and Steven. He will also be missed by Laura’s parents, Fred and Marla Berrie of Toronto, and her brother Tyler (Gillian) Berrie of Vancouver. Also mourning are special aunties, many cousins, and very close friends who have become family.

Glenn was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Frank and Rita Lachowiez; his maternal grandparents, Aubrey and Jean McCharles; and his uncles Gary Lachowiez and Stephen Mann.

Glenn found his greatest happiness in the life he built with Laura and the boys and in the time they shared together.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held in Cape Breton in the summer of 2026.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may consider a contribution in Glenn’s memory toward the future education and opportunities of his children. Those wishing to contribute may do so by e-transfer to glennschildren@gmail.com.

Forever loved and deeply missed, until we meet again.
