In Loving Memory of Dinah Lee Cation

July 1, 1944 – July 23, 2026

It is with profound sadness that the family of Dinah Lee Cation announces her passing on July 23, 2026, at the age of 82, following a battle with cancer. Dinah Lee is now reunited with her beloved husband, Ross, to whom she was deeply devoted throughout their life together, following his passing in April 2025.

Dinah Lee’s greatest joy was her family. She was a loving and devoted mother to her two daughters, Danielle Bell (Mike) and Gineen Douglas (Gavin), and a proud grandmother to Jayme, Stephanie, Reegan and Rachel, each of whom held a very special place in her heart. Predeceased by her parents, Hugh and Helen Scott, Dinah Lee will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Carol Van Gogh (Henk); her brother, Peter Scott (Wendy); her sister-in-law, Gwen (Gord); as well as her nieces, nephews and many special friends.

Born in Toronto and raised in Unionville, Dinah Lee attended the Ontario College of Art, where she developed her skills in pottery and the visual arts. Pottery became a cherished passion, and she took great pleasure in creating and selling her work at local art shows and sales.

She took up golf and curling in her 40s and quickly excelled at both. Over the next 30 years, she formed many close and lasting friendships at Thornhill Golf and Country Club. After being invited to skip a team at SLICCS, she continued to build cherished friendships through the annual curling bonspiel, where she also helped organize the entertainment for many years.

Dinah Lee cherished time with family and friends, creating countless memories around the dinner table through her love of trying new recipes and entertaining. Her most treasured place was the family cottage on Eels Lake, which she and Ross built together in the early 1970s. Time with family by the lake, sunset cruises, birthdays and Thanksgiving celebrations brought her great happiness and created memories that will be cherished forever.

Following her move to Lakefield, Dinah Lee became involved in her new community. She enjoyed the friendships she made through the Lakefield Probus Club and took pride in coordinating and planning events for the local group. Dinah Lee and her beloved dog Joey got involved in the community by training with the East Central Therapy Dog program, where they visited students and seniors in the community.

Dinah Lee will be remembered for the deep love she shared with her two daughters and grandchildren. She will also be cherished as a sister and aunt, a caring neighbour, a devoted member of her community and a loyal friend. Her legacy will live on through her family and the many lives she touched.

A Celebration of Dinah Lee’s life will be held on Friday, August 14, at 12:30 p.m. in The Great Hall at Lang Pioneer Village Museum (located in the Peterborough County Agricultural Heritage Building at 104 Lang Road, Keene, Ontario) followed by a reception.
