Obituary for Colleen Mary Murphy
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Colleen Mary Murphy, who passed away at home on January 12, 2026.
Colleen lived a full and meaningful life rooted in faith, service, and love for her family and community. She came to Canada from England in 1956 with her husband, Thomas (Tom), and their daughter Eileen, where they established a family business. Colleen worked as an office manager for 35 years, dedicating herself with quiet strength and unwavering commitment.
In 1987, Colleen won a trip to Rome and Israel through the Catholic Church. This experience profoundly changed her life and inspired her to devote herself to humanitarian work. She went on to found the charity Friends of Agape, where she spent over 30 years collecting, sorting, and shipping food, clothing, and medical supplies to missions worldwide. This work became her life’s passion.
In recognition of her extraordinary dedication to service, Colleen received a Citizens Award from the City of Brampton in 1994 for her long-term volunteer contributions. She also worked tirelessly for many years with Saint Margaret d’Youville Catholic Church, serving her parish community with compassion and devotion.
Colleen was predeceased by her loving husband Thomas Philip Murphy, her brother Martin Cunnane, and her granddaughter Jennifer Todd.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Eileen Loomer; her granddaughter, Allison Todd (Oliver Kuhn); her grandson, Kevin Loomer (Deepa Desai); her great-grandson, Andrew Todd; her sister-in-law, Collinette Cunnane; and by her many extended family members, friends, and all whose lives she touched through her kindness and generosity.
Colleen’s life was a quiet testament to faith in action. Her compassion crossed borders, her generosity lifted others, and her legacy will live on in the countless lives she helped shape.
