Carol Anne Harding

Carol-Anne Harding January 26, 1947 – September 20, 2026

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Carol-Anne Harding (née Sutherland), of Newmarket, Ontario, on September 20, 2026, at the age of 79.

Carol was born on January 26, 1947, in Maple, Ontario, to William and Florence (née Manson) Sutherland. She built a long and respected career as a law clerk, dedicating many years to her profession until her retirement in 2016. For many years, Carol was the welcoming face of Alex Schneider’s law office, becoming a familiar and well-known presence to many people in the Newmarket community.

Carol was a generous, fun, devoted and loving grandmother who absolutely adored her grandchildren and was deeply involved in their lives. Her family will forever treasure the many memories they made together, including family vacations to Walt Disney World, Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios, trips to Mexico, and celebrating Carol’s 60th birthday together in St. Lucia.

Carol had a wonderful appreciation for the simple pleasures in life: a good murder mystery—whether in a book, movie or television show—a fresh pot of coffee and a bowl of popcorn. She was happiest when surrounded by family, enjoying a good laugh, a Coors Light beer, or simply settling in with one of her favourite television shows.

Carol-Anne will be lovingly remembered by her son, Martin (Denise) Harding; grandchildren, Sydney Harding (Alex) Greek and Sam (Allison) Harding; sister, Sheree (Ted) Vanheeswyk; brother, David (Nancy) Sutherland; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Diane Bennett.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to York Regional Police, Central York Fire Services and York Region Paramedic Services for their compassion, care and professionalism during a difficult time.

A special thank you to Beverly Woolven, who was a wonderful friend and neighbour to Carol for more than 45 years. The family is grateful for Beverly’s kindness, friendship and care.

A private interment service and celebration of life will be held by the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Carol will be deeply missed and forever remembered by the family who loved her.
